Do-It-Yourself Projects for Used Gutters

Fun DIY Used Gutter projects
Do you have any used rain gutters hanging around that you have no idea what to do with?  How about using them to create do-it-yourself projects for your home? Used rain gutters are great to use for recycled crafts, and you can create some of these projects using little to no money.  Below are some fantastic and creative ideas to re-purpose your old rain gutters.

Make a Beverage Rack

Consider using an old gutter to create a beverage rack for outdoor barbecues.  All you need, beside the old gutter is an outdoor picnic table made of wood.  Remove one of the wooden boards in the middle of the picnic table, and then attach the gutter.

Then, while hosting a picnic, add ice to the gutter to put your soft drinks, water, beer and wine.  This will keep your drinks cold during your barbeques.  Make sure that the used gutter is free of cracks so it can hold the ice, and add end pieces to the gutter, so it can contain the water as the ice starts to melt.

Design a Hanging Garden

If you have an old, used gutter that still hold water, you can use it to make a gutter garden.  Take the gutter and drill holes into the base of it, add some chains, and hang them from the side of your roof or patio.  You can also turn them into window boxes by adding brackets to the back of your gutters.  Add fruits or vegetables for your very own hanging garden.

Create Shelves For Storage

Use an old, used gutter to create storage shelves for books, or craft supplies, like thread or ribbons. You can also use them to keep your needles for sewing contained.  You can even use a recycled gutter to store nails and small pieces or flat objects in your garage or work space.  You can also work gutters into corners to create a book nook in your basement or rec room.

Manage Cables Under Your Desk

I am sure you know what an eyesore a big tangle of cables can look, but you don’t quite know how to keep them looking tidy.  Here is a great idea for you to use up some used gutters; take the recycled gutter and use it to manage cables under your desk at home.  It really organizes then nicely!

Build A Shoe Rack For Your Kids

Children’s shoes are smaller than adult shoes, and an old, used gutter is the perfect size to build a shoe rack to keep them organized.  If you want to organize even further, try finding three used gutters to create three separate racks; one for summer shoes, one for winter shoes, one for dress shoes.

Use Them For Kids Toys

You can use an old gutter to make a ramp for matchbox cars.  You can also design a gutter to hold water for sail boats and ships in.  Just make sure that the gutter you use for this purpose can still hold water.
